Researchers at IBM made a big step towards the actual use of this technology five years after the project's launch, in 2013, when they developed a tool for collecting and managing data on pharmaceutical distribution. Lee Munyeon, the program's general manager, stated that pharmaceutical companies are curious to learn "how to put data about shipments at the service of my procurement teams." The industry thinks that this can help to reduce errors whether it is in the proper or wrong container.
